-------------------Fireside Chat Meeting-------------------
The next Fireside Chat will take place on: February 19, 2025 Starting at 7:30 PM to 9:00PM.
Presented by: Ken Curtis
Topic: Discussion on use of AI to create art. Note Starting Time will be 7PM not 7:30PM for this meeting
This presentation is intended to give viewers a basic understanding of what is involved in creating AI art. I search for techniques to set my photographs apart from what I see everyone else doing. I want to create art, not just take a snapshot of an interesting object or scene and enhance it with tools like exposure, saturation and cropping. This prompted me to investigate what could I do with AI. I chose Midjourney for my generation engine (website).
I think of this as creating AI art. I do not say AI photographs because the original did not come from my camera, and these images would not be permitted in a photography exhibit.
In every case, after generating a new AI image, I post process it with Photoshop to remove
imperfections or manipulate it in some way. During the presentation I will discuss how I got started experimenting with AI, how to generate Midjourney images, show examples of what I have created and talk a bit about what I have learned along the way.

We are a non-profit club that concentrates on digital photographic techniques. Our goal is to provide an
environment where amateurs and professionals can learn from each other to further develop their skills
as photographers.
We welcome guests to all of our meetings, which begin at 8:00 pm and last approximately two hours. If you are
interested, or think you might be and want to learn more, by all means, please join us. Meetings are normally held
twice each month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. Often, a guest speaker is invited to present information about his
or her specialty at the first meeting. Member competitions are held during the second meeting.
Please check the Main Calendar
for meeting dates and activities. Schedules may change, so check the calendar often.
